Seeing all the great posts from people attending the HR tech in Las Vegas is fantastic. Although it would be great to be there, my current concern is not that we don't have the technology we need as people leaders. I fear we lack the behavior required to build great organizations and cultures where businesses, teams, and individuals thrive! My personal experiences recently have had me ghosted by recruiters and hiring managers, conversations that live solely in a tactical nature, and people with limited support from leadership to deliver outstanding results. I am a bottom-line guy, and if it has no impact, don't do it, but not focusing on candidate and employee experiences is a miss. I don't care if the system sends me an auto-response. Is that all the communcation we deserve or want to give? With no feedback, direction, or behavior to model it is worthless. Let's give real feedback, build grace and kindness back into the process, preach authenticity and realize people are really struggling in this economy. I am open if anyone wants to build on these ideals :-)

Couldn’t agree more! Me 🙋🏻♀️ I’m open to these ideals! Let’s stop pretending and doing “busy work” to justify our existence with another power point or pointless training or program 🤦🏻♀️... We could do so much better as People & Talent functions. Candidate and Employee experience is everything! We touch so many lives, let’s do better one company at the time!

I agree and hope to continue to drive the change one company at a time. There is always more for us to do.

Today, I had the opportunity to provide a reference for a past employee who has been searching for a new role for quite some time. I am hopeful that this opportunity will be the one. Reflecting on this process made me appreciate the privilege of working with so many exceptional individuals. It's not just about the results they achieve, but the kind of people they are and the leaders they have grown to become. Seriously, just look at my network and those in it.To all those individuals, you know who you are, and I am truly grateful for everything you have shared, taught, and given me!If any of you are facing challenges right now, don't hesitate to reach out. My network of amazing individuals and I are here to support you in any way we can. Please remember, regardless of the market and your current candidate experiences, you are still great at what you do!

Don, et all.Sadly it remains a path of least resistance. The administrative burden on recruiters associated with huge talent pools is mind boggling. This is not an excuse for bad process or behavior. You literally have to know someone to champion your paper through the process and even then you can fall victim to a changing company's economics and or whims of hiring managers. At the end of the day people will identify your passion for what you do and once again value the impact you can have on an organization. I personally will hire you the first chance I get. Stay positive it will happen.

Well said, Natasha! I feel the size of the current candidate population is showcasing some of the worst behaviors in companies (and people's) recruiting processes. Assessments for passion and energy around characteristics, skill sets and experienced is not that hard. Using age as a variable in the decision making process is discrimination as well as just lazy.

Literally, 24 years ago, when we sold PureCarbon, I said that giving people the ability to create digital profiles would eliminate the need for a candidate to fill out an employment application. Nope, here we still are. Sorry, I hope we don't treat the use of AI in the Talent world with the same indifference!!!! Yes, I was only 5 at the time :-)

Dr.J,The real interesting part for me is companies still claiming they seek the best candidates in the industry/marketplace. Not with these types of questions or work restrictions. I hope all is well with you.
